Amy O'Connor was interviewed by Friends of Buncombe County Special Collections volunteer Suzanne Colwell on April 10, 2025. This interview took place at Suzanne's home and was conducted as part of the Come Hell or High Water Oral History Project for Buncombe County Special Collections, Pack Memorial Library.
O’Connor discusses how Tropical Storm Helene impacted her commercial building in downtown Spruce Pine [00:10:29], describing extensive flooding and mud damage to her property, which housed a restaurant. She also shares how she, her husband, their renters, and volunteers worked together on cleanup efforts [00:14:17] and steps taken towards repair and recovery as of six months after the storm [00:21:10].
