Several roads have closed, as well as schools. 5-10" of rain are predicted to fall across the area, and hundreds of people have already been evacuated. A fire prevention officer in Black Mountain states that he and his crew are evacuating people from "everywhere that has a creek". A business owner compares the impact of the flood on his business to the flooding in 1999. Trees falling on buildings is a concern. Shelters in Rutherford County have opened up to house evacuees. Asheville firefighters are warning people in low lying areas of flooding risks they face. An Asheville gravel business, despite being at risk of being flooded, has had good business selling sandbags to locals, most of whom live in the Biltmore area. The French Broad is predicted to crest at 13.5'. The Swannanoa River has already crested at 18'. One father says he and his family will leave when the water reaches the second step of their porch, but his wife worries about if and when it'll reach the first. She says that she would go stay with her brother. "But he's in Swannanoa. He's flooded too."
