I had just woken up that morning to see that I had no means of communication, or anything. I figured that the storm had brought down power lines, or something, so we should go see what the river looked like. I was shocked to see the Tuckasegee look as big as the French Broad on a normal day. This was the first time I knew something was seriously wrong. I remember thinking about how much worse it would be downstream when the river joined up with others. I remember that though the dam you see in the video was overflowing, and we were shocked-- we all knew that something horrible must be happening in Asheville, and east-- but we just didn't know how bad it was.
