Series of eight photos. Starting from the top left, the first photo depicts the places where the Swannanoa River took chunks out of N.C. 181 near Recreation Park. The second photo depicts a man holding a high water marker up against the Candler Post Office. The third picture depicts damage to a bridge on South Bear Creek Road in West Asheville. In the middle row, the first picture depicts two Candler residents evacuating. A view of the flooded American Enka Corporation taken from a rowboat is shown in the second picture. In the third, a flooded Black Mountain home is shown. On the bottom row, the first picture depicts people walking over a footbridge set up on part of the washed-out Cane River Bridge. In the last picture, a small bridge is swamped with debris as signs sit tilted. The first and second pictures in the top row, third picture in the middle row were taken by June Glenn Jr. The third photo in the top row, second photo in the middle row, and second photo in the bottom row were taken by Malcolm Gamble.
