Most of the damage to the city has been done by water, not wind, according to the City Manager. Asheville Airport is functioning normally, and planes are arriving and departing on schedule. Emergency crews are working to keep the lights on and keep underground power lines dry. Multiple underground pipes have been damaged. Despite this, falling trees knocking out power lines continues to be a problem. Southern Railway has its own fair share of problems; some parts of their tracks have had the ground below them washed away, and other parts of their tracks have been covered by a mudslide. They expect train service to resume Tuesday morning. Bus routes are operating normally.
