Front page article describing belated cost estimates of property damage. Cleanup efforts have begun. Some communities have indicated that the damage they suffered in this storm was the worst they had ever had. Whittier, an area near Cullowhee, Canton, and Marshall had it the worst. Five homes were washed away in Whittier, and the rest had mud several feet deep. Everything was underwater for several hours. The main bridge across the Tuckaseegee into Whittier was washed out.
