French Broad is Slowly Receding but Still High
Description
Article describes river water looking "like ocean breakers" due to its speed and ferocity in Alexander, Marshall, and Hot Springs. Many large logs and railroad crossties were swept down the river during the flooding. Cornfields are "covered with water to an extent that leaves only the tops of the stalks showing", but crop is expected to survive. Farms in Lake Toxaway and Big Ivy hit hardest. Brevard cut off from rail service due to flooding. Estimated cost of the damage still unknown.
