Big Ivy Community Center - the heart of the community
Description
This is the Big Ivy Community Center in Barnardsville. The asphalt road to the center was gone in places,. There were many trees down and much debris, including a few vehicles, in the creekbed. The tents at the center were for neighbors to pick up needed supplies, like canned food, camping equipment, baby items, clothing, blankets, propane, and water. There was an entire tents of coats. Lunch was served every day, and neighbors could drop off their laundry to be laundered by volunteers. I was there as a volunteer and was impressed by the efficient processes in place and by the many caring people I met.
