Karis Roberts was interviewed by Buncombe County Special Collections Librarian Carissa Pfeiffer on June 23, 2025. This interview took place over Zoom and was conducted as part of the Come Hell or High Water Oral History Project for Buncombe County Special Collections, Pack Memorial Library.
Roberts shares her experience during and after Tropical Storm Helene, including helping neighbors in the immediate aftermath while facing mobility issues from a recent hip replacement [00:04:21]. At the time, she was affiliated with the Asheville Brewers Alliance, and she describes checking in on specific businesses early on [00:05:19], and the challenges businesses faced [00:18:50], in addition to personal experiences such as witnessing hospital care under crisis conditions [00:35:32]. Karis makes several specific mentions of local breweries, as well as recovery and fundraising efforts led by local and regional breweries and beer organizations [00:39:36].
