Friends are able to get to us and show up, yelling for us from the road to see if we are ok, as our driveway was impassable. In the meantime, they have businesses that have flooded. Without cell service, electricity and thus access to news, we knew nothing at this point about the extent of the storm and damage. Rescue copters circle overhead all weekend and in the weeks to come, assessing damage and we get a sense that it's bad. We realize that we were the friends that were missing and we hug each other with a depth that will never be unfelt.
