    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[David Easterling is a (now forcibly retired) climate scientist at NOAA whose work has been studying climate change and extreme weather for over 30 years. In David's interview he describes the meteorological conditions leading up to the storm, his own work and his experience finally being "in" an extreme weather event and his work with CoCoRaHS data.<br /><br />This interview was conducted on March 27, 2025 by Keyana Thomas for the Asheville Museum of Science as part of the project "Every Day, Everywhere, Everyone: Reflections on Community and Climate Resilience in WNC," and donated to Buncombe County Special Collections.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This image comes from a series of 35mm B&amp;W slides that directly engage with the hurricane&#039;s invisible ecological impact. The film was developed using water from the contaminated French Broad River after the storm. As such, the images take on visual artifacts and damage borne from their contact with the same water that destroyed the landscape depicted therein.<br />
<br />
This particular photo was taken 6 months after the storm in one of the same neighborhoods the photographer visited months prior. The muddy handprints have remained undisturbed on this garage door for six months. ]]></dcterms:description>
